AVTOP HD adjustment

Set up brightness and contrast for HDTV playback using your PC

Our free setup video allows you to find the correct setup for the brightness and contrast of your monitor, projector or HDready screen. The .zip file contains a 1.5 gigabyte setup video stored as an AVI file.
This can either be played back directly with Windows Media Player, or can be compressed using a video codec.
But, be careful: If you do intend to compress the video with a codec, this can cause some changes in levels, so it is advisable to compare the result with the original AVI file.

Instructions for use

Setting up brightness and contrast with our test pattern is very simple:
Start the test sequence in Windows Media Player (version 9 onwards).
Set the brightness of the picture playback device so that you can just still see the left-hand bar (“-2 %”) in the black area.
Now adjust the contrast until the right-hand bar (“102 %”) is just still visible in the white area.
The bars move so that you can distinguish them from the background more easily.

HDTV / Blu-ray production

If you wish to use the video in your HDTV/Blu-ray production, please get in touch with us.
AV T.O.P. can carry out necessary inspections using this and other test sequences, to inform you as to whether the full video quality is maintained in your production process. For this, we have further test patterns available, as well as a variety of analysis options. You receive the patterns and combine them into your production process – we then check the result.
